Error Handling Enhancements in iCluster 7.1 TR1

Rocket iCluster 7.1 TR1 has enhancements based around four key areas – ease of administration, replication verification, error handling and currency. In this post, the Error Handling Enhancements are highlighted.

Error handling addresses enhancements that make it easier to recover from any errors.

• In previous releases if a node failed due communications errors or a corrupt user space was encountered, multiple steps had to be manually performed to recover (such as ending all groups, setting the last applied position, clearing the staging store and deleting user spaces etc.). This is now handled automatically through one new command DMINZNODE.

• If you do need to manually use the DMSETPOS *LASTAPY command, there is no need to manually figure out if the group had open commit cycles, the DMSETPOS command will do this for you.
• Finally iCluster is now more resilient in handling temporary or minor communications hiccups, automatically retrying to establish communications and restarting groups when communications comes back up.
